'Don't mess with the classics' is a rule that applies to all walks of life, but Nike have never been particularly fond of following arbitrary rules when there is new ground to be broken. Besides, the considered application of modern technological upgrades and subtle aesthetic twists could hardly be considered "messing with." 

The familiar, iconic shape of the Air Force 1 remains the same, with the addition of the energy returning, stabilizing properties of React cushioning. The classic leather upper gets a lightweight makeover, with the incorporation of a mesh midfoot panel and tongue, while an oversized, outlined Swoosh puts a conceptual, contemporary twist on the branding.
